THE MEANING OF HIBERNATE: to be in a dormant state during a cold period, especially during the winter. Some animals, amphibians and reptiles greatly slow down their metabolism, are sullen and sleepy when they awaken…I believe I know the most vibrant & stunning of hibernators. Something that wakes us up to beauty as soon as they wake up from their winter nap.
It occurred to me as I was walking in Cabbagetown on this sunny, wintry February 1st. The “CHEERY CHIRPERS” (what I refer to our furry friends with wings – the birds!) … were jovially attempting to “announce spring” to all those within earshot of their song in the neighbourhood.
We have barely seen snow this winter.
But no matter that white, fluffy flakes have been hidden in heavenly storehouses and birds are singing their confused jubilant song, flowers canNOT be coerced to sing before their time.
Flowers sing with their radiant, joyful petals and colours. They announce spring in a permanent way. They hibernate silently under the dark, cool soil until just the right moment in season that they are set forth to bloom and sing for our eyes.
Birds sing for our ears.
Flowers sing for our eyes.
Flowers are the silent, joyFULL, yet simply stunning HELLO to our eyes.
They sing to our hearts and fill our lives and home with evidence of beauty from the outdoors…brought inside to live with those who enter your sanctuary.
January is gone and February, the month of LOVE has arrived. With LOVE and flowers in mind, I would love to have you drop by WOW …just to say HI. I want to get to know others in this AWEmazing part of Toronto – Old Cabbagetown. Where I live and now own a business.
So, drop in and say HI to me…and the flowers…and the PLANTastics and…and…
